Blog Index Travel Agents Give Our Gap Year Experience A Go

Last month Shamwari Conservation Experience hosted 12 travel agents at our volunteer camp. We gave them a small taste of what to expect when volunteering at SCE. This included a snake demonstration, a visit to the Born Free Foundation, Basil Mill's history talk and a game drive on Shamwari Game Reserve to show them what animals you can expect to see on the reserve.

We ended with a visit to Sinovuyo Day Care Centre where we donated food for the children's lunch that day. Shamwari Game Reserve has a minimal waste policy where we not only recycle things like plastic, glass and paper, but also food from the lodges. Overflow muffins, breads, scones and croissants from breakfasts at the lodges are frozen to be distributed amongst our community projects. Meat off cuts and bones are also frozen to be used as stock for soups.
